Strong storms knocked out power for thousands of Ohio residents

Crews are working to bring back power to thousands of residents.

Severe weather from Wednesdayâ??s flooding rains left thousands of residents without power.

Toledo Edison reports customers from Perrysburg, Sylvania, and Middleton Townships each experienced less than 5 power outages, but most of the damage happened southeast of Toledo.

Toledo Edison spokesperson said Sandusky County had about 7000 customers out of power. Defiance County had about 15,000 customers without power.

Crews had been sent to Wood and Henry Counties Wednesday night, but were sent to all counties in the area, mostly concentrated in the most impacted areas. PHOTOS: Check out storm damage sent by viewers

As of 6:40 a.m., Toledo Edison reports about 700 residents in Washington Township residents do not have power.More than 200 residents in Woodville Township, Montgomery Township, and Freedom Township have crews assessing damages.

As of 7:30 a.m., officials said crews have made progress and said customers can expect power to return some time today, but could not confirm what time.
