Suitcase 6 puppies await adopters

The Suitcase 6 puppies were found abandoned in a zipped up suitcase.

Your chance to adopt one of the adorable "Suitcase 6" puppies or their mother officially ended Thursday with a total of 132 applications submitted. The Toledo Area Humane Society will now move to phase two, which involves a random drawing of the applicants and a screening process.

"We are little surprised at the number of applications actually received; we were expecting it to be higher simply due to the high volume of phone calls and inquiries we had received from people across the country asking how they could adopt one of the puppies," said John Dinon, executive director of the Toledo Area Humane Society. â??We are hoping that individuals who chose not to apply for one of these dogs will still visit TAHS or their local animal shelter and consider adopting another great dog currently awaiting its forever home.â??

Potential adopters whose names have been drawn will be notified on Friday and can meet the puppies and their mother. The chosen applicants must come to TAHS during business hours on Tuesday, May 22 in order to adopt.

TAHS says the puppies will be available to selected applicants on a first-come basis during our operating hours on Tuesday.
