Suspect arrested in South Toledo fatal beating

Patterson's body was found beaten and bloodied outside the Byrne Hill Mobile Home Park.

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the June murder of a South Toledo man.

Aaron Jones, 20, is charged with murder in the beating death of Jeffrey Patterson, who was found lying outside of the ByrneHill Mobile Home park in the early morning hours of June 11.

Patterson had last been seen inside the Sunoco gas station at Byrne and Hill hours before his body was found. He had gone inside to purchase a six-pack of beer and was presumably on a walk back to him residence along Hill Ave. when he was beaten to death. Investigators say he was hit over the head close to 25 times with what they believe was a hammer.

There were no witnesses to the crime which took place outside the mobile home park at 3601 Hill Ave. in the early morning hours.

Authorities say Patterson died of severe head trauma.

Surveillance video released after the incident shows someone entering the Sunoco gas station, at Byrne Rd. and Hill Ave., with a bloody hand. Police say they are searching for that person.

After months of investigation, Toledo Police arrested and charged Jones with Patterson's murder on Thursday afternoon. Police say further charges against Jones are forthcoming.

Jones is set to be arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Friday morning.
