TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A Michigan man suspected in a string of stabbings across three states has been charged with stabbing a church custodian in Toledo.
A grand jury in Toledo indicted Elias Abuelazam on Friday.
He's charged with felonious assault and attempted murder in the stabbing of Tony Leno who was standing outside a Toledo church in August when a man asked him for directions and then began stabbing him.
Leno survived the attack, and Abuelazam was arrested in Atlanta a few days later while trying to catch a flight to Israel, his native country.
He also faces one murder charge and five attempted murder charges in Michigan.
Five men were killed and nine injured in a series of stabbings in the Flint, Michigan, area. He's also suspected in four attacks in Virginia.
