Suspects in custody for string of Monroe business robberies

Two suspects are in custody for a string of local business robberies Friday morning.

A Monroe ice cream shop's windows shattered Friday morning when two suspects tried to break-in.

Officers responded to Ice Cream Time at 3648 N. Dixie Highway around 4 a.m. after alarms went off. Monroe County dispatches investigated the scene and found two suspicious 21-year-old males on Stone Post Road in Newport. The deputies said the suspects also intended to break into Lee's Market at 8593 Swan Creek in Newport. The two stores are within 8 minutes of each other.

Both suspects have been arrested and face charges of breaking and entering. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
