SUV skips through traffic, fence into restaurant

A vehicle crashed through the entrance of a popular restaurant near Westfield Franklin Park late Thursday morning.

      J. Alexander's, at 4315 Talmadge Road, was closed temporarily Thursday after the front-end of an SUV crashed through an awning at the entrance of the restaurant before Noon. No one inside the restaurant was hurt.

Toledo Police say the driver of the SUV suffered from some sort of medical episode, causing her to lose control of her vehicle. The SUV was northbound on Talmadge Rd. when it crossed over southbound lanes, amazingly avoiding oncoming traffic. The vehicle jumped the curb and into an office parking lot before ramming through a fence and into the restaurant's entrance.

The glass to one of the restaurant's front doors was shattered by debris.

The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The restaurant is expected to re-open for Thursday's dinner crowd.
