Swanton police are investigating what might have been a home invasion, but police officials aren't sure a crime even took place.
The incident occurred at 305 Church St. in the Fulton County village Monday morning.
"We need to have a more thorough discussion with the alleged victim before we can draw any conclusions on what happened," said chief of police James Guy.
According to Guy, Swanton police arrived at the Church St. home almost immediately after receiving a call of a home invasion. However, they found little evidence of a crime.
"The resident of the home was wounded," said Guy. "We are still trying to determine how he got those wounds."
There were no footprints at the scene indicating suspects fled on foot and the alleged victim has been inconsistent in their description of the alleged criminals and their getaway vehicle.
Swanton police are handling the matter as a home invasion and the case remains under investigation.
