The 23-year-old man charged with fondling a 9-year-old girl at the Sylvania library will serve time in prison.
Jason Jeffries was sentenced Friday to 14 months in prison in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
On Feb. 27, Jeffries was found competent to stand trial after his attorney filed a motion for evaluation of mental condition. Two days later, Jeffries entered an "Alford plea" to attempted gross sexual imposition.
Under an Alford plea, the defendent asserts innocents but admits there is enough evidence present for a conviction.
According to police, Jeffries said something inappropriate to the victim and touched her backside on Oct. 24, 2011. The child then told her parents, who reported the incident to the library.
