Pets in need now have a chance at a happier holiday, thanks to one local organization.
The money collected during their "Secret Santa" drive will go towards paying medical expenses of dogs rescued by the organization. 4 Paws Sake president Cindy Smith says the group doesn't turn away any animal they can help, regardless of the medical bills. Due to some of the injuries and needs of the animals, medical costs can be quite high. They are currently in the process of treating a 1-year-old miniature pinscher, who has a fractured pelvis, that will need at least two surgeries in the coming months. A pregnant dog will also be in their care soon and, in addition to medical treatment, will need a new home. Anyone can call 419-855-4421 and make an anonymous donation to the "4 Paws Sake Secret Santa" collection. Smith adds that 4 Paws Sake is always looking for foster homes as well, and those interested can view their website at www.4pawssake.org.
