Teen accidentally shoots friend through both legs

Putnam County authorities report an 18-year-old accidentally shot his friend through both legs while riding in a pickup truck Monday night.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Josh Buckland was showing 18-year-old Tristan Parker his new Glock handgun while they were riding in the backseat of a truck when the gun discharged, striking Parker in the right thigh and exiting through the left calf.

Parker was treated and released at St. Rita's Care Center in Ottawa. The incident remains under investigation, but the sheriff is calling it an accidental shooting.
