      Teen driver loses control of vehicle on snow covered I-75

      The teen was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control and driving during restricted hours.

      A car slides off I-75 early Friday morning after trying to pass a semi in Middleton Township.

      Ohio State Highway Patrol said 17-year-old Gage Edward Moreno lost control of a 2003 Ford Mustang traveling southbound on I-75 shortly before 2 a.m. The car was in the left lane attempting to pass the semi, but slid into the right lane, veering off the road ways and hit a snow embankment.The semi driver, 53-year-old Allen Rae Relitz, and Moreno were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both drivers had minor injuries.The teen's passengers, 18-year-old Zachary David Ashton also sustained minor injuries, but the the right front passenger, 15-year-old Tyler Preston, sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries.All three teenagers were sent to the hospital. Officials said alcohol and or drug use did not contribute to the crash.The teen was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control and for driving during restricted hours.
