Michigan State Police say an argument between two teen classmates went out of control over an alleged racial slur on Monday night, leaving one injured in a stabbing.
The assailant and victim's names have not been released, but the police report confirms that the accused 16-year-old offender is booked at the Monroe County Youth Center while the 17-year-old victim remains in stable condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
The report also reveals that the two teens, both students at Riverside Academy in Dundee, Mich., confronted each other at Ida Fireman's Park around 6 p.m. According to a witness, the 16-year-old male produced a knife after the older teen gained the upper hand in the fight.
The juvenile stabbed the victim in the upper shoulder, neck area, under the arm and in the buttocks with a small pocket knife.
