Telethon raises $20,000 for Camp Courageous

Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield generously donated $10,000 during the Camp Courageous Telethon.

WNWO would like to thank everyone who made a donation to help a remarkable place that caters to the special needs community in Northwest Ohio during our 3rd annual Camp Courageous Telethon.

The phones kept ringing during the four-hour telethon and Lucas County Fair goers too made contributions to dunk WNWO on air talent and bid on prizes. At the end of the night, viewers, companies and community groups pledged more than $20,000 to help developmentally disabled children and adults attend Camp Courageous and to maintain facilities as they prepare to stay open year-round.

For more than 40 years, Camp Courageous has provided an outdoor experience of a lifetime to the special needs community and given respite to families and caregivers. Camp goers play sports, swim, make arts and crafts and learn about the nature around them, much like any other summer camp in the U.S. Camp Courageous counselors and volunteers come from far and wide to nuture the campers' needs and have fun.

Anyone still interested in making a donation can do so online, by contacting 419.875.6828 or by sending check, money order or credit card information with donation amount to:
