The Andersons to close retail store in northwest Ohio

The Andersons will close its Woodville Mall store by the end of February 2013.

The Andersons will shut the doors to a retail store early next year, leaving only three locations remaining in northwest Ohio.

The company says it will not renew the lease to its Woodville Mall and will close the store by the end of February 2013. The store opened in Northwood in September 1988.

"The decision to close the Woodville store was difficult," explains Dan Anderson, President of The Andersons Retail Group. "We've been in this location for 24 years and have appreciated a loyal following. We will miss the opportunity to provide a convenient location to serve the customers of the east side of Toledo and surrounding suburban communities."

The general store, along with Sears, are the only remaining tenants on the mall's property. Dozens of other businesses vacated the property earlier this year after the mall was closed by health officials.

"For a variety of reasons we could not continue operations at the current location, and we cannot justify constructing or relocating a store in the immediate area," explains Anderson.

Current positions at the Woodville location, including 29 full-time and 92 part-time, will be phased out as the company closes the store. Employees will have the chance to apply for other positions within the Andersons company.

In addition to stores in Maumee, Toledo, and Sylvania, the Andersons also has two retail stores in Columbus.
