If you thought it was expensive to smoke in the United States, you may want to think again.
New Zealand's Health Ministry wants to boost the price of a pack of cigarettes to as high as $100.
The agency is trying to make the country smoke free by 2025.
The proposal would be to increase the cost of a pack of cigarettes by 30 to 60% this year and 30% price increases the following years.
Cigarettes right now cost about $17 a pack in New Zealand.
Do you think raising the price for cigarettes to $100 a pack is a good way to deter people from smoking? What's the most you would pay for a pack of smokes? Post your comments below or on WNWO's Facebook Fanpage.
