The Sandusky County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested three men in connection with the brutal beatings of an elderly Gibsonburg couple.
Mary, 76, and James, 74, Kohler were found beaten inside their home July 2 after suspects broke in and attempted to steal part of a gun collection. The men intended to sell the stolen property to purchase drugs, according to investigators.
Ronald Ruby, 32, of Toledo, along with Paul Biddwell, 32, of Fostoria, and Jimmy Houston, 33, of Woodville were arrested Wednesday. They are each charged with two counts of aggravated murder and kidnapping, as well as one count each of aggravated robbery and felony theft.
Police say the couple's hands were tied together by the suspects during the attempted robbery. Mr. Kohler was able to break free of the ties and dial 9-1-1.
