A home owner was sound asleep Tuesday morning before he realized three men allegedly broke into his Tiffin home on Sycamore Street.

Tiffin Police had to tell him a TV, laptop, wallet, food, alcohol, silver dishware and keys to a 2001 Mercedes were stolen from his house.

The car was later found damaged and abandoned in a farm field of E. Township Road 122 and County Road 15 in Seneca County.

Three men were arrested in connection to car theft and burglary.

Police say the thieves also damaged a side door of the house as they forced their way inside.

27-year-old Justin A. Matthews was arrested at an apartment on E. Perry Street in Tiffin. Officials found numerous items in the apartment from the burglary.

Matthews was arrested on one count of burglary and was booked into the Seneca County Jail.

A burglary charge was also filed against 35-year-old Anthony R. Cortez.

Authorities took Cortez into custody after he was treated for a possible drug overdose at a local hospital.

A charge of complicity to burglary has been filed against a third man, whom authorities say assisted Cortez and Matthews after the alleged crime.

30-year-old Dennis E. Dinan and his two alleged accomplices are scheduled for an arraignment on Wednesday, Jan. 15 in Tiffin Municipal Court.
