Several officials throughout northwest Ohio have decided to change their Halloween date after a meeting Thursday.Mayors, managers, and police chiefs met to discuss the scheduled changes according to the news release.The cities of Oregon, Perrysburg and Toledo and the Village of Ottawa Hills will a host trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. The City of Sylvania and Sylvania Township will host trick-or treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013.The City of Bowling Green will host trick-or-treat from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013.
Parents throughout the community expressed their concerns, posting their comments on social media including WNWO's Facebook page.
The City of Toledo's Facebook page posted an update saying parents should use their best judgment when taking their children outside to trick-or-treat.Toledo Mayor Mike Bell has received criticism from viewers earlier this week, who described previous Bell's decision not to change the date as not addressing "the kids and their safety."Other viewers have turned this into a political issue, urging the public to "remember to get out and vote next week!
