Marco's Pizza says they've been ranked the third best pizza chain in the nation, at least that's according to Consumer Reports.
It's the first time the Toledo-based pizza chain has appeared on the magazine's list of Best and Worst Fast Food Restaurants in America, which was last made in 2011.
The rankings were based on nearly 54,000 responses collected after 96,208 consumed meals at 65 different burger, chicken, Mexican, sandwich, and pizza chains across the country. Readers were asked to rate restaurants on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the least delicious).
"To debut at no. 3 is a testament to our commitment to providing customers with delicious, authentic Italian pizza that people love, yet is still convenient and affordable," said Jack Butorac, Marco's Pizza chairman and CEO. "The results of this survey validate our efforts to achieve a high standard of quality and consistency across our franchises as we position ourselves for rapid growth."
Marco's Pizza was established in Toledo in 1978 by Italian-native Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco. The company says it is the only major national pizza chain founded by a native Italian.
Marco's has more than 500 locations nationwide, with more than 1,500 new locations in the works, according to a company statement.
