A Toledo church celebrates the impact of Dr. Martin Luther Kingâ??s legacy, as a church leader prepares to deliver an important speech at a famous civil rights landmark.
The congregation at Toledoâ??s New Bethel Church of God in Christ remembered the civil rights leaderâ??s legacy on Sunday. Toledoâ??s own Bishop Rance Allen, a world-renowned gospel singer, preached Dr. Kingâ??s message; that â??love will conquer all.â??
â??You help me where you can help me and Iâ??ll help you where I can help you,â?? said Allen. He continued, â??As we face these challenges we can win together.â??
On Monday, Allen will deliver this keynote speech at Mason Temple in Memphis, Tenn. Mason Temple is the famous location where Dr. King delivered his final public speech, â??Iâ??ve Been to the Mountaintop,â?? one day before he was assassinated.
â??I never would have dreamed it in a thousand years,â?? said Allen. He added, â??But, I did have a dream like Dr. King.â??
New Bethel Church will remember Dr. King at a ceremony on Monday at the University of Toledo. The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m.
