Toledo church destroyed in fire will hold Sunday services at UT again

No one was injured in the fire at St. Mark's.

A little over a week after St. Mark's Baptist Church was destroyed in a fire, members will again participate in Sunday services on the University of Toledo's campus.

Only days after the blaze, at N. Detroit and Fernwood, members held services at the Driscoll Alumni Center and will do the same at 11 a.m. on Jan. 12.

"We lost a building on Friday, but we didn't lose a church," explained a church member during last Sunday's service.

Sunday school will also take place at the center, 2801 W. Bancroft St., at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

St. Mark's was founded in 1955 by Pastor I.J. Johnson who is still the senior pastor.

The church says plans on when and how they will rebuild are too soon to determine at this point.
