Money from the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund is helping jumpstart the effort to renovate the vacant Fiberglas Tower in downtown Toledo.
The $3 million grant and a matching amount from the owners of the building, the Eyede Company, will help start the renovation of the tower by first removing the laced asbestos fire proofing.
Mayor Finkbeiner wants to install a solar panel field on the south exterior wall to create a state of the art renewable energy system. The owners also think they could develop the building as a hotel, apartment, and condo complex.
Prior to this announcement there were thoughts of having the building on N. St. Clair St. imploded.
