If you're looking to get away next summer, Toledo Express has the flight for you. Allegiant Air announced Wednesday a new non-stop jet service from Toledo to Fort Myers, Fla. beginning Feb. 16, 2013. The new service will start with fares as low as $89.99 one way.
"We are pleased to bring a new affordable and convenient travel option for Toledo residents," said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company president, in a statement. "We are confident the community will appreciate the value of flying nonstop to Southwest Florida and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservation together."
To take advantage of the introductory fare deal, tickets must be purchased by Dec. 12, 2012, for travel by June 3, 2013.
The new flights will operate twice weekly between Toledo Express Airport (TOL) and Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) starting next February. Punta Gorda Airport is centrally located midway between the white-sand beaches of Fort Myers shore and Sarasota's tropical island communities.
"We are very excited that Allegiant has added the Fort Myers / Punta Gorda flight out of Toledo Express Airport. The Fort Myers area has always been a top vacation destination for residents of northwest Ohio and we're thrilled to bring this route back to the travelling community," said Paul Toth, CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, in a statement. "Allegiant has always been our target airline for the Toledo / Punta Gorda route. They have consistently provided great service and great prices to our community, and they are the right airline to serve this market."
