Toledo Fire and Rescue officers honored by the state.

Several members of the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department have been honored by the state for their heroic actions in the line of duty.

The Ohio State Fire Marshall's office held a ceremony Wednesday to present 13 fire officers with the Ohio Fire Service Valor award for their work in saving the lives in two separate emergencies.

Capt. Joseph Camerato, Private Robert Thomas, Private Rachel Doran, Private Jared Davis, Private Christopher Mrkva, Private Jason Hart, and Private Claudia Rodriguez were honored for their quick actions in rescuing a victim trapped under an automobile following a crash.

Lt. Ronald Murd was first on the scene of a Dover St. structure fire with people trapped inside. With help from Lt. Kathy Zeller, Private Holly Bennett, Private Daniel Desmond, Private Kristin Limmer, and Private Jason Ziemke, the officers were able to make entry into the burning structure and rescue a mother, father, and a young girl who later succumbed to her injuries. The crew was awarded for their efforts in making the rescues with limited resources.
