Toledo fire crews battle another suspicious fire

Suspicious fires have kept the Toledo Fire Department busy over the last week. Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld, Public Information Officer for the Toledo Fire Department, says no conclusion has been reached as to whether the recent fires are connected. "At this point it doesn't appear to be a serial arsonist; there were seven separate arson fires this past week and they are all under investigation," Lt. Hertzfeld said.

One of the fires crews responded to this weekend was at a home at the intersection of Hawthorne and Grant. The homeowner, Edward Taylor had just purchased the home and was days away from moving in. "It's a devastating loss, I had brand new sinks, brand new toilets, everything was brand spanking new," Mr. Taylor said. Taylor did not have homeowners insurance. He estimates it will cost $15,000 to repair the damage.
