Gallon, Takacs, Boissoneault & Schaffer recently earned the Energy Star rating from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy. A first in its class for a local law firm, not to mention a small business.
In just a few years, the firm reduced its electric energy consumption by about 30%. It was done, in part, by changing light bulbs from 32 watts to 28. Also, installed vending machine controls saved more than 2300 kilowatt hours per year. Additionally, the use of exhaust fan timers provided more than a thousand kilowatt hours per year of savings.
The practice spent at least $16,000 making the office greener. And in just two years, it's gotten a total return on its investment.
This law firm is a GEM Energy Management customer. GEM, out of Walbridge, Ohio, provides energy-saving services helping to lower energy costs and reduce environmental impact.
