Toledo-Lucas County Library celebrates jazz appreciation month

Toledo-Lucas County library's jazz event will be at in the auditorium of Kent Branch Library.

TOLEDO - Toledo-Lucas County Public Library is hosting an event on Saturday to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month.

The free event takes place from noon to 5 p.m. in the auditorium of Kent Branch Library Access Center, 3101 Collingwood Blvd.

This yearâ??s theme, "Jazz Alchemy: A Love Supreme," pays tribute to saxophone legend John Coltrane. The festivities will include live music, crafts and a snack bar.

Observed each April, Jazz Appreciation Month is celebrated nationally and internationally.

Jazz is an American musical art form started in the early 20th century in African American communities in the South. Its influence is based on West African and European traditions.
