Toledo man beats gas station clerk with the Bible

A Toledo man is behind bars for allegedly using his Bible as a weapon to rob a gas station Wednesday.

Court documents indicate Abbott Griffin, 57, went into the Circle K gas station at 2969 Tremainsville and demanded money from the cash register. The store clerk handed over cash, but Griffin threatened for more money, saying he had "something in my left hand to put you on the floor." That's when Griffin repeatedly hit the store clerk's head until Toledo Police arrived on scene and arrested Griffin.

Authorities discovered Griffin had other weapons including two folding knives in his pocket. He was arraigned Friday morning and faces an aggravated robbery charge. His bond is set at $50,000 at no percent. Griffin's next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
