Toledo man confesses to stabbing his dog

David Riling

A Toledo man has admitted to stabbing his pit bull six times with a large knife.

31-year-old David Riling pleaded no contest last week to one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

Last October, Riling said he was trying to eat dinner when his pit bull tried to take his food. Riling says he pushed the dog away and that's when it bit him.

That's when he called 9-1-1 and said he was going to kill the dog. When police arrived they found the dog with 6 stab wounds.

The dog had to be put down because of the seriousness of the injuries.

Riling faces up to 6 months in jail when he's sentenced.

Do you think 6 months in jail would be a fair sentence for causing a dog's death? Post your comments below.
