Toledo man convicted of shooting pet dog locked in cage

A Toledo man faces up to a year in prison for shooting his dog as it yelped in its cage.

Lawrence Mick, 58, pleaded no contest Tuesday and was found guilty on several charges related to the July 9, 2010 shooting of his German Shepherd named Sarge.

Mick and one of his friends took turns shooting Sarge. The dog survived and is now at a pet sanctuary in Utah.

Mick will be sentenced March 15, 2011.

He's already serving two months for having a gun when he wasn't supposed to.
