Toledo man gets 12 years sentence for killing his friend

John Garcia Jr., 34, plead guilty Monday to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault.

A Toledo man will spend the next 12 years behind bars for stabbing his friend to death.

John Garcia Jr., 34, plead guilty Monday to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault. Garcia got into a fight in March with his friend Christopher Ogden, 40, at the victim's east Toledo home in the block of 2000 Woodford and Ogden.

Brenda Watts, 36, also in the home, called police around 3 a.m., saying Ogden was in critical condition. Garcia turned himself into authorities back in March.

As part of the plea deal, murder charges have been dropped.
