Toledo man shot to death in broad daylight

Toledo police are investigating the murder of a 47-year-old man in the Old South End section of the city. At 12:15 this afternoon police responded to 659 Congress Street where they found Ricardo Soria lying on the sidewalk in front of his home with multiple gunshot wounds.

Soria was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital but he later died from his injuries. Witnesses told police that they observed a white male between 20-30 years of age fleeing the scene. Tamra Weills lives a few houses down from where the murder occurred. "We hear gunshots all the time, it's getting to the point where we'll be talking in the kitchen and hear them and not even break our conversation," Mrs. Weills said.

Tamra Weills sister-in law Robbie Weills is concerned that crime is going to increase now that 75 police officers have been laid off. "Because of the police layoffs it's just going to put these criminals more out here and doing whatever they want to do and trying to get away with it, Ms. Weills said. Police have not made any arrests in this case.
