Toledo mayor sends letter to federal government asking for help with algae

Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins sent letters to the federal and state officials requesting help to prevent a future water crisis.

In the letter, Mayor Collins says" Toledo and many other cities impacted by this threat need additional resources .. " Shortly before a city council meeting, the mayor talked to the media, but would not say exactly how much money he hopes to get from the federal government.

The mayor says he's seeking help from the president because the issues involving Lake Erie and clean drinking water is not just a local problem, but also a national and international problem.
