Toledo mayor, staff make citizen's arrest at former Champion site

<p>Mayor Collins and two staffers kept 3 people at the site of the old Clarion after they allegedly caught the trio dumping trash and taking old bricks from the site.</p>

According to the city of Toledo's Facebook page, Mayor D. Michael Collins and two staffers held three men until police arrived at the former Champion site off Upton Avenue.

The Facebook post said that Mayor Collins, his Chief of Staff and Assistant Chief of Staff called police after allegedly catching the trio dumping material and removing bricks from the property.

The mayor served for nearly 30 years as a Toledo Police officer before entering city politics.
