Toledo Police Chief Diggs to step down at end of Mayor Bell's term

Toledo Police Chief Derrick Diggs will be retiring at the end of Mayor Mike Bell's term.

The City of Toledo made the announcement Thursday morning, citing Police Chief Diggs had "irreconcilable differences in policing philosophy."

Diggs is expected to pursue "other professional law enforcement" opportunities.

Chief Digg's final day will be Thursday, Jan. 2.

Mayor-elect D. Michael Collins said Digg's replacement will be announced before Dec. 16.

The news release also indicated his position along with other director positions will share his "philosophies" on how to meet the "safety needs of our community."
