Toledo Police union approves new deal

Toledoâ??s main police officers' union, the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association (TPPA), has approved a 3-year contract with the city, according to The Toledo Blade.

On Thursday, Toledo's City Council will meet to vote on the new deal.

Now with union backing, the agreement is expected to pass.

Among the terms of the agreement, a 2.5 percent pay raise next year and a 3 percent raise in 2014.

Officers would also receive a lump payment of $1,500 this year and another $1,000 in 2013 and 2014.

In return, union members made concessions on their contributions towards their own pension and health-care costs.
