Board members in the Toledo Public Schools district are set to take a look at potential cuts Tuesday, just one week after a tax levy failed.
Issue 3 would have helped cut a $30 million budget shortfall. Among the cuts expected for next school year are all resource officers and crossing guards. Single gender schools, Ella P. Stewart Academy for Girls and Lincoln Academy for Boys are slated to merge as a result of budget cuts.
Libbey High School will remain open, despite an initial push to close the historied school. Board officials will have to find ways to make up the estimated $1.3 million in savings that closing the school would have made.
Board members say they will discuss putting another levy on the November ballot.
The board will also continue its search the district TMs new superintendent. Current Superintendent, John Foley, will resign at the end of this academic year.
