Toledo receives $500k green infrastructure grant

TOLEDO - The City of Toledo is one of four recipients of a federal grant aimed to improve water quality along Lake Erie.

A $500,000 federal grant will be used for water management improvements, including wetlands and vernal pools. Cleveland, Lakewood and Lorain have also received funding.

Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Council member Lindsay Webb, and Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins made the announcement on Wednesday at Cullen Park in Point Place.

This grant is part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
