Toledo schools levy renewal off the table for spring ballot

A request to put the five-year 6.5 mill levy on the May 2013 ballot failed at a meeting Tuesday.

A proposal to put a renewal levy on the ballot this May failed without a vote by Toledo Public Schools officials yesterday.

According to The Blade, a motion to seek the five-year 6.5 mill levy was not approved. Earlier this month, the Toledo Board of Education's finance committee recommended that a special election be held to renew the district's operating levy.

In November, voters rejected a new 4.9-mill, 10-year levy that would have generated $13.3 million annually.
