Toledo soldier just home from Afghanistan is victimized by theft

West Toledo resident John Doe* joined the US Army shortly after he graduated from high school. In his nearly 20 years in the Army, Doe has served three overseas deployment. In late September, Doe returned from a deployment to Afghanistan.

This past Sunday Doe and a fellow military buddy were enjoying a meal at the Sidelines restaurant in North Toledo when his 2009 Harley Davidson Street Glide was stolen. "I was in the restaurant for five minutes with a friend who just came back from Afghanistan with me and he went outside to take a call and came back inside to tell me that my bike was gone," Doe said.

Doe immediately called police and later filed a claim with his insurance company. What makes him especially mad is that whoever stole his motorcycle knew that it belonged to a veteran. "I had veteran plates on the back of it and I had a sign that said I served in Iraq," Doe said.
