As the final weeks of Fall approach, it's time to clean up the yard and get the season's leaves ready for pick-up.
The City of Toledo says the 2010 leaf collection program will begin, weather permitting, on Nov. 1 and continue through early December.
Residents should look for signs, announcing upcoming leaf collection, to be posted in neighborhoods around the city. Collection includes loose leaves only and does not include bagged leaves, brush or sticks. Leaves must be raked to the edge of the pavement on uncurbed streets and just over the curb on curbed streets in order to be picked up.
The city asks that residents not rake leaves onto boulevards or cul-de-sac islands. Once leaf collection is complete, residents may mix remaining leaves with solid waste in refuse bins for collection.
Leaves may also be recycled at Clean Wood Recycling, 6505 W. Bancroft St. or 5330 Stickney Ave. through Dec. 31.
