The Board of Education of Toledo Public Schools moved one step closer to having a property tax levy request placed on the November ballot.
By a vote of 4-1 the board approved the sending of the levy request to the Lucas County Auditor for certification. That certification is expected later this week. The board will vote next Tuesday to formally place the levy request on the November ballot.
The school board is asking for a 7.8 mills request that Treasurer Dan Romano says will generate $21.7M in additional revenue for the district. For example, a resident whose home is valued at $100,000 will pay an extra $239 in property tax while someone with a home valued at $60,000 will pay an additional $162 a year.
