A train derailment has closed Crissey Road near Airport Highway Thursday morning.
Officials are on the scene in Springfield Township, near the Old Airport Highway.
Norfolk Southern operates on the tracks. Officials said 16 cars derailed around 8:30 a.m. The cars were carrying vegetable oil and silica sand that began leaking after the crash. The leaks have since been contained.
No injuries have been reported.
Officials expect it will take hours to clear the train; however, Crissey Road may be closed for up to a week while the damaged tracks are repaired.
Drivers should seek alternate routes around Crissey Road. To the east, Albon Road connects Airport Highway and Angola Road.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
