Train headed for Toledo hits and kills woman

The Monroe County Sheriffâ??s Office reports a train leaving a coal plant from Michgan killed a woman Sunday evening.

The train traveled southbound on Norfolk Southern Railroad, north of Albain Road.

The engineer, who operated the train, saw a woman walk on the tracks and lay down.

Officials confirmed 57-year-old Theresa M. Rook was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials have not yet determined why the woman was lying on the tracks, but say it appears to be an intentional act. Flashing signals and an automatic gate signaled that a train was crossing the intersection during the time of the crash.
