A state transparency committee appointed to investigate dysfunction within the Lucas County Board of Elections has recommended that several board members, including directors be replaced.

At the last of several meetings Friday, the committee decided to recommend to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted that board members Tony DeGidio, Ron Rothenbuhler, and Jon Stainbrook be replaced.

Director Gina Kaczala and Deputy Director Dan DeAngelis should also be removed, according to the committee.

Secretary of State Husted convened the Transparency Committee to investigate the Lucas County Board of Elections in April citing lack of organization within the group.

READ: Ongoing problems at Lucas County BOE "Despite the guidance and support elections officials in Lucas County have received from my office in recent years, it has become apparent that there is a severe lack of communication among board members and between the board and its staff," Mr. Husted said.

The four member committee is comprised of two Republicans and two Democrats; Scott Borgemenke, former Assistant Secretary of State; Jennifer Brunner, former Secretary of State; James Ruvolo, of Ruvolo & Associates; and Jonathan Allison, Carpenter Lipps & Leland.
