The Ohio State Highway Patrol has arrested and charged a Riverside, Calif. teenager on felony drug possession and trafficking charges after he was stopped on the Ohio Turnpike Tuesday.
Eriberto Zamora, 19, was driving a Ford F-150, with Illinois plates, on the turnpike near milepost 55 around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was stopped by troopers for a marked lanes violation. A Patrol drug-sniffing dog alerted troopers to the truck and a subsquent search revelead 5.7 kilos of cocaine inside.
The drugs are valued at more than $850,000.
Zamora was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Lucas County Jail. He is charged with possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs, as well as possession of criminal tools. He faces up to 21 yers in prison and a $42,500 fine if convicted. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Lucas County Court Wednesday.
