The City of Toledo has two new battalion chiefs on its fire and rescue department.
The officers, Captain Pete Jaegly and Captain Karen Marquardt, were promoted at a ceremony Friday morning.
Battalion Chief Marquardt has been working with Toledo Fire since June of 1996. She called her promotion an honor and a testament that doors will open with hard work.
"They look at me as how I do the job and their confidence in me on how I can do the job and not which gender I am. It's helped me a ton throughout my whole career," said Marquardt.
Toledo Mayor Mike Bell was also on site to congratulate the two on their achievements.
