Univ. of Toledo warns students of dangerous situation off-campus

Toledo police on the scene after an apparent robbery at the Subway on Secor Rd. across from UT's Rocket Hall.

Students at the University of Toledo have been alerted to a dangerous situation just outside of campus Wednesday morning.

According to the school, Toledo Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Subway, 1465 Secor Rd. around 10 a.m.

The suspect was said to be armed with a shotgun and fled the store in an unknown direction. He was described by those at the scene as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants, though surveillance images from inside the store show a man in a brown sweatshirt, black pants, black ski mask, and orange construction vest.

According to Toledo Police, all store employees ran to hide inside a cooler when accosted by the suspect. He then fled, without any cash, via a rear door, possibly through a lot at College Drive.

Students are urged by the university to be cautious in the area off the main Bancroft campus.
