MILLEN, GA - A Toledo woman who fled arrest for several years was located and taken into custody in Georgia Thursday.
U.S. Marshals arrested 48-year-old Dawn Smith in Millen, Ga. She had been on the run since 2010 for not registering as a sex offender.
Smith was convicted of sexually assaulting a juvenile under the age of 13, which required her to file her address every year as part of her sentence.
In November last year, U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott added Smith to the list of "Agonizing 8," for crimes that have caused great physical and mental pain on their victims.
She could face federal charges. If given a federal conviction, she faces up to 10 years behind bars.
Smith currently awaits extradition back to Ohio.
