Two members of President Barack Obama's administration are visiting northwest Ohio to promote job training programs.
U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Labor Secretary Thomas Perez will be in Toledo on Tuesday to tour Toledo Technology Academy, a member of the Toledo Public Schools initiative recently awarded $3.8 million through the Youth CareerConnect grant program, a collaborative effort between the Education and Labor departments.
The federal grant is intended to help employers build partnerships with the school system and its students.
Duncan and Perez will also tour the Toledo Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee's 45,000-square foot training facility. The Owens Community College Rossford facility offers a state-of-the-art complex for training in commercial and electrical careers.
